Seville Shopping and Seville Shopping Districts (Seville, Spain)
Shopping in Seville is an enjoyable pastime, particularly when it is approached in a typical Spanish style. In Seville, shopping fits with the climate and an afternoon siesta is never hurried. Shopping in the streets of Seville is often treated as a leisure activity, with several coffee breaks and possibly afternoon tea in one of the many nearby cafés and bars.
Shops in Seville tend to close during the afternoon siesta. Seville shops and stores generally open from around 09:30 and then close at 13:00, reopening at around 16:30 and then staying open until 20:00 or sometimes later, although opening hours can vary depending upon the individual shop. Seville department stores and some other shops do not close during the afternoon siesta in Seville and stay open throughout the day.
For some of the best shops in Seville, both old and new, the district around Calle Tetuan and the pedestrianised Calle de las Sierpes is the place to visit. With busy streets and interesting stores, shops in this smart area of Seville sell shoes, hats, hand-embroidered shawls, leather bags, high fashion Spanish clothes and much more besides.
The streets surrounding Seville's Plaza Nueve are overflowing with shops and sell a wide variety of chic clothes, stylish baby clothes, religious objects and tourist souvenirs. There are also some interesting shops in the Barrio de Santa Cruz, such as arts and craft stores, and collectors shops.
Close to the Reales Alcazares are some of the finest ceramics for sale in the Seville area and some of these make ideal presents. Throughout Seville there are also many antiques shops with some specialising in Spanish furniture.
